“Yoga Centre Mieux-Vivre” is a serene and welcoming yoga studio located in Mirabel, on the north shore in the Basses-Laurentides area of St-Janvier. The studio specializes in the practice of Viniyoga, inspired by traditional Hatha yoga, focusing on a progressive approach to yoga postures centred on breath awareness and learning.
Founded by Simonne Lafrance, the philosophy of the studio is based on principles of hospitality, listening, respect, and simplicity. The motto of the centre is “Yoga for Better Living” 2016. The studio offers regular classes as well as rejuvenating retreats outside the country, allowing practitioners to immerse themselves fully in the practice of yoga.
The studio offers a wide range of courses to meet the needs of all students, with classes held in small groups to ensure individual attention. Meditation and relaxation are integrated into the regular classes at different levels. For beginners, the studio offers an Introduction course for those who are new to yoga or returning after a hiatus. The course focuses on basic postures, step-by-step breath awareness, and relaxation, with sessions lasting between 8 to 10 weeks.
For those looking to progress further, the studio offers Beginner level I and II programs, where students can solidify their understanding of basic postures, learn new postures, and practice yogic breathing techniques and relaxation over a 10 to 12-week session. Moderate and Intermediate level classes cater to more experienced practitioners, offering a variety of postures, breathwork, mantra, meditation, and relaxation.
A unique offering at “Yoga Centre Mieux-Vivre” is the Yoga with Stretching class, where traditional stretching exercises are combined with yoga postures to maintain flexibility and fluidity in the body. These sessions provide variations that can be incorporated into daily activities or post-sport routines, with noticeable differences even after a single class.
Each group session includes an introduction to various topics to enhance your practice, breath awareness exercises, warm-up, diverse posture practice, relaxation and/or breathwork, meditation and/or mantra practice. Students are required to bring their own yoga mat, cushions, blocks, and blankets for hygiene purposes, but the studio can provide any forgotten accessories. Comfortable clothing, water in a sealed bottle, and an open mind are all that's required to start your journey to a healthier, more mindful lifestyle at "Yoga Centre Mieux-Vivre.
