Yoga Annie is a renowned yoga instructor and studio located in Aylesbury, New Zealand. Founded by Gill, a qualified Yoga Therapist and Member of the National Council of Integrative Psychotherapists, Yoga Annie is dedicated to providing holistic and therapeutic yoga practises to individuals of all ages and backgrounds.
Gill's journey with yoga began in 2012 when she discovered its powerful healing effects during a challenging period in her life. She experienced various mental health afflictions, including anxiety, panic attacks, and a breakdown. Motivated by the transformative impact of yoga in her own life, Gill travelled to India in 2017 to become a certified yoga teacher. Inspired by her deeply compassionate mother Annie, Gill affectionately named her company Yoga Annie as a tribute to her mother's kindness and ability to find the good in others.
As a three-time carer for her mother and brother during their battles with cancer, as well as being the primary carer for her father who has Alzheimer's, Gill strongly believes in the importance of yoga therapy as an essential component of care and self-care for caregivers. Her personal experiences with trauma have also fostered a deep interest in trauma healing, both personally and professionally.
In addition to her dedication to yoga, Gill has a diverse range of interests. She is an avid cyclist, enjoys quality sleep, relishes in delicious food, and finds solace in indulgent baths. Gill also loves exploring different countries and immersing herself in their unique cultures. She is a true country bumpkin at heart, with a profound love for nature and animals, adding to her brood of four cats and five chickens.
Gill is currently a trainee Integrative Yoga Psychotherapist, undergoing training with the Minded Institute in London. She received her fit-for-practise in August 2023 and is currently completing her clinical hours. Gill offers Integrative Yoga Psychotherapy sessions at a cancer therapy centre in Bicester and also accepts private clients for online and in-person sessions. In addition, she is a qualified Yoga Therapist and holds accreditation from the National Council of Integrative Psychotherapists.
Passionate about sleep science, yoga philosophy, and mind-body health, Gill's expertise extends beyond physical yoga practise. She aims to provide a holistic approach to yoga and therapy, focusing on the interconnectedness of the mind, body, and spirit. With her warm and compassionate nature, Gill creates a supportive and inclusive environment for her clients, guiding them on their journey towards healing and self-discovery.
