
SUP Yoga Southampton is excited to announce a special event called “Yoga for Healthy Lower Backs”! This 12-week course is designed to empower individuals in Southampton to improve their comfort, health, and overall well-being for now and the future.
This evidence-based program incorporates gentle basic yoga and de-stressing techniques into participants' daily lives, helping them get back to being more active. By practising relaxing, stretching, and strengthening yoga poses, participants will improve their postural awareness, breathing, mindfulness, pain relief, and relaxation skills.
To ensure absolute comfort, yoga props such as blocks, blankets, or belts are used throughout the course. It's an enjoyable program that encourages long-term commitment and motivates participants to continue practising at home.
What sets this program apart is the research conducted by The University of York's York Trials Unit in The Department of Health Sciences. Their findings show that the 'Yoga for Healthy Lower Backs' program is 30% more effective than usual care and produces better results compared to other treatment options, such as physiotherapy, chiropractic, osteopathy, exercise, cognitive behavioural therapy, massage, and Alexander Technique Lessons.
Incredibly, the course has also been found to reduce days off work by a whopping 70% over a year. So not only will you be taking care of your lower back, but you'll also be ensuring your overall well-being and productivity.
The total cost for the entire 12-week course is £200, and there's an additional £48.50 plus £5.50 for the Resources Pack. This pack includes a book with informative notes and pictures of the postures, relaxation practices, home yoga sheets, and a practice schedule.
