The Women's Hockey Club of Toronto (WHCT) is a vibrant and inclusive adult recreational non-body-checking ice hockey league based in Toronto, Canada. The league is open to women, trans, nonbinary, and two-spirited individuals who are queer/trans/nonbinary-inclusive. The WHCT was established in 1993 with the intention of providing a safe and welcoming space for gay and gay-positive women to play hockey. Over the years, the league has evolved to become inclusive of trans and non-binary players, making it one of the largest queer women's hockey leagues in North America.
With 12 teams, each consisting of 15 players including a goalie, the WHCT strives to create a balanced and inclusive environment for players of all skill levels. Whether you are a beginner looking to learn the game of hockey or a seasoned player, everyone is welcome to join the league. The WHCT values sportsmanship and respect for all players, referees, and staff, making it a fun and supportive community for all.
The league's mission is to provide a space where queer, trans, nonbinary, two-spirited individuals, and allies can come together to play hockey regardless of their experience or skill level. The WHCT is committed to breaking down financial barriers to ensure equal access to all members. The league also aims to foster connections and friendships among members who share a passion for the sport of hockey.
Each season, the WHCT celebrates teamwork and sportsmanship through awards such as the Jennifer Hart Award for the most sportsmanlike team and the Teamwork Award for achievements on the ice. The league also hosts social events and activities throughout the season to further strengthen the sense of community among its members.
