The Gold Coast Academy of Sport is stoked to announce the highly anticipated return of the Women's Rugby 7's program in 2023. This program is all about taking the skills and knowledge of rugby-loving ladies to the next level. With the rise in female participation in Rugby 7's and the outstanding achievements of our national team, the Academy is fully committed to championing and supporting women on their path to representative and regional rugby greatness.
Our program is designed to provide athletes with a solid foundation of skills through a range of educational components. Athletes will have the opportunity to dive into subjects such as nutrition, strength and conditioning, sports psychology, and body maintenance and rehabilitation. These aspects are crucial in boosting performance and assisting a well-rounded development.
We've got some exciting things in store! The program will consist of dedicated training days and informative seminars delivered by professional presenters. These sessions will arm our players with the knowledge and skills they need to hit the ground running in the upcoming season. Plus, it's an incredible chance for talented players to rub shoulders and challenge themselves against the best in their age group.
To be eligible for our Rugby 7's program, athletes must be females aged 14 to 17 and residing on the Gold Coast. They should either be a member of the Gold Coast District Rugby Union or an affiliated club, or be ready and willing to join one.
Now, we know you may be wondering about the cost. Don't fret, we've got you covered! There will be a program levy, which covers the expenses of a complete uniform kit. This includes a snazzy dress polo shirt, a training shirt, comfy training shorts, socks, and of course, a ball.
