Women's football at Aylsham Football Club in Norwich is gearing up for an exciting new season as they reintroduce their 11-a-side team. Led by a skilled coaching team from Norwich City, the club is dedicated to providing football opportunities for all members of the community. As the upcoming 2022-23 season approaches, Aylsham aims to have over 30 teams and groups spanning various age ranges, from toddlers to over-55s.
Heading the women's 11-a-side team is Steve Kenny, who brings a wealth of experience from coaching the now-disbanded Norwich City women reserves. Steve's leadership has seen the team compete against development sides from top clubs such as West Ham and Watford in league games.
Steve will have the support of his assistant, Colin Seal, and player coach Jordan Arnoup. In addition to his time at Norwich City, Steve has previously coached girls and women's sides for the Norman Wanderers club in Norwich. Expressing his excitement about the opportunity, Steve shares, “The club's vision resonates with me and aligns with my own. I want to extend a warm welcome to women and girls at the club and restore the team to its previous successes. It's truly thrilling for me. I aim for our team to be competitive while maintaining inclusivity, attracting players of all experience levels and abilities.”
Ian Potter, chairman of Aylsham Football Club, acknowledges the significance of this addition, stating, “This presents an incredible opportunity to build upon the incredible work done by our dedicated members within the club. We hope it acts as a catalyst to empower our girls' and women's footballers, who proudly sport our orange and blue colours.”
