Winchmore Aikido Club, located in London, is a highly respected martial arts school that specialises in the practise of Aikido. With a rich history dating back to the 1980s, the club was formed from a Judo Club run by Steve Billett. While the Judo club has closed its doors, the Aikido Club continues to thrive and attract students from all walks of life.
The club is a proud member of the Aikido Development Society (ADS), a founder member of the National Governing Body of Aikido in Great Britain known as the British Aikido Board. Following the teachings of Sensei Tomiki, a renowned practitioner and one of the first students of O-Sensei Ueshiba, the club upholds a strong lineage and connexion to its roots. It is worth noting that Sensei Tomiki was not only a student of O-Sensei Ueshiba but also a highly ranked Judoka with a competitive spirit, which greatly influences the training at Winchmore Aikido Club.
Under the guidance of Don Bishop, the original instructor of the club and former head of the ADS, students have the opportunity to train in the Shodokan system of Tomiki Aikido. This unique blend of instruction from various instructors allows students to experience the best of both worlds in their Aikido practise.
Conveniently located at Winchmore Hill School in Enfield, the club offers classes on Monday evenings from 8pm to 10pm. Led by Steve Billett, an experienced instructor, the classes provide a comprehensive Aikido training experience. The class fees are 10 per session, making it accessible for individuals with various budgets.
If you require further information about the club, you can reach out to Steve Billett directly at 07860-963691 or through email at sbillett@aikidoenfield. Uk. The club also has a postal address at 26 Crofton Grove, Chingford, London E4 6NY. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced practitioner, Winchmore Aikido Club welcomes individuals of all skill levels to join their friendly and supportive community.
As a member of the British Aikido Board and the ADS, Winchmore Aikido Club is committed to promoting the art of Aikido and providing a nurturing environment for individuals to develop their skills. With a dedication to authenticity, lineage, and excellence, the club continues to inspire and educate practitioners in the art of Aikido.
