West Sussex Bridge Club, located in Haywards Heath, is a welcoming and inclusive club for bridge enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels. The club organises duplicate pairs sessions every Tuesday and Thursday at The Old School in Cuckfield.
To join the club for the first time, individuals can either come along with a partner or utilise the Find-a-Partner service. They can also contact the Club Secretary, Chris Jago, at 01444 715915 for more information and assistance. The club warmly encourages both members and visitors to participate in their weekly sessions.
At the end of each month, the club recognises and rewards their top performers through a handicapped results-based system. Winners receive prizes based on their three best Tuesday evening sessions played during the month. In December, the club congratulated John Rix and Richard Haynes as their champions. Additionally, Alan Duddy and Colin Mallows were drawn in the monthly prize drawing and awarded free plays for any games played in January.
The club is currently in need of more Directors due to an increase in sessions and the retirement of a long-standing Director. Full training will be provided, and Directors will have the privilege of playing for free during the sessions they direct. Interested individuals are encouraged to contact Chris Jago at secretary@westsussexbc. co.
uk if they can offer their assistance.
In addition to their annual competitions, the club also offers monthly prizes based on members' attendance at face-to-face club sessions. Members who have played at The Old School at least three times during the preceding month are eligible to enter the prize drawing. Those who have played at least six times receive two entries, while those who have played at least nine times receive three entries. Winners are randomly chosen at the first session of each month.
A list of eligible members can be found under the Competitions section of the menu.
For members who prefer playing online, the club offers online bridge sessions exclusively for club members in partnership with Avenue and Lewes Clubs. Three weekly sessions are available on BBO: Tuesday mornings at 10 am, Wednesday evenings at 7:30 pm, and Thursday afternoons at 1:30 pm. Those interested in participating can contact Ed Barter at memsec@westsussexbc. co.
uk.
For individuals looking to stay up-to-date with the club's activities and results, they can visit the club's website or social media platforms. The website provides information on upcoming events, the club calendar, results, competitions, and newsletters. The club also maintains an online administration tool called BridgeWebs Calendar, which keeps members informed about various administrative matters.
