West Suffolk Swimming Club (WSSC) is based in Bury Saint Edmunds and was formed in 1998 when Bury Beavers and Haverhill Hurricanes joined forces. Today, it's one of the biggest competitive swimming clubs in East Anglia.
Joe Smith, the organiser, wants everyone to know that WSSC is all about the swimmers. They’ve got around 340 members, and they cater for everyone from beginners to those competing at a national level. Joe and the team make sure everyone feels valued and has the chance to reach their best.
There's a solid coaching squad - five coaches with loads of experience. Joe also relies on a committee and a bunch of awesome volunteers to keep things running smoothly. If you've got any swimming questions, the coaches are always around for a chat. For anything admin-related, just get in touch with the board members.
Joe's keen to point out that WSSC is very active in the swimming scene. They organise loads of events and compete in big ones like the Suffolk County Championships and the Putteridge LC National Qualifier. These events give members a chance to show off their skills against some talented swimmers from other clubs.
To keep everyone updated, Joe makes sure there are regular news updates and announcements on the noticeboard. The website is also a handy place to find info and buy squad kits and other gear.
The success of WSSC comes down to the combined efforts of the swimmers, coaches, committee, volunteers, and support from various partners. Joe values everyone's contribution and aims to create a positive environment for all. By sticking to the club’s policies and making sure members' welfare is a top priority, WSSC maintains high standards.
Joe is committed to the continuous improvement and growth of the club. By providing guidance, support, and opportunities, he aims to help swimmers develop their love for the sport and gain valuable life skills for the future.
