Created a dance company in Barry called “Wedding Dances – Barry. ” The company offers a range of services including private lessons, wedding choreography, fun classes, DJing, and corporate team building. The company is located at the Barry Island Sports & Social Club in Redbrink Crescent, Barry, Wales.
The founder and dance instructor, Lyndsey Hill, affectionately known as Mama D, has been teaching dance for over 17 years. She started her partner dance journey with Modern Jive and Ceroc 20 years ago, and eventually discovered her love for Rock n Roll. She has also explored other partner dance styles including Argentine Tango, blues, and Swing classes.
Driven by her passion for 50s music and 50s jive, Lyndsey decided to bring rock n roll classes to her hometown of Barry. Mama D's dance classes are highly structured, professional, and full of fun. Lyndsey is assisted by her husband, Andy, making the classes vibrant and welcoming.
The company offers classes every Monday evening at Pyle Legion and every Tuesday evening at Barry Island Sports & Social Club. The classes cater to all levels of dancers, including absolute beginners. The class structure includes a stroller warm-up, beginner and improvers classes, and an hour of amazing music ranging from jive to 50s RnB, rockabilly, doo-wop, and strollers.
In addition to regular classes, Mama D also organises professional and social events such as Sunday afternoon tea dances and evening events, creating a friendly and inclusive dance community in South Wales. She also provides workshops to help dancers fast-track their learning or improve their technical abilities.
For those interested in wedding choreography, Mama D offers personalised lessons to create a memorable and stunning dance routine for the special day. The company also provides DJing services for weddings and other events, ensuring that the dance floor stays lively and energetic.
