The Washpool World Heritage Trails event, organised by Traq - Washpool World Heritage Trails, is definitely not one to miss for all you cross country running enthusiasts out there. This event, now overseen by Coffs Trail Runners and directed by the talented Keelan Birch, promises an unforgettable experience in the stunning Washpool and Gibraltar Range National Parks.

Mark your calendars for Sunday, 27 March 2022, and make your way to Mulligans Hut, Gibraltar Range NSW 2370. The entry fees for this event are as follows: $10 for the 9 km event, $25 for the 26 km event, and $50 for the ultimate challenge of the 52 km event. It's worth noting that participants must be 18 years old for the 26 km and 52 km events, while the 9 km event is suitable for families and walkers looking for a fun adventure.
To truly immerse yourself in the race atmosphere and bond with other passionate runners, we highly recommend camping at the Mulligans Hut Campground. It's the perfect place to share stories, make new friends, and enjoy the post-race celebrations. Just keep in mind that there's a maximum of 150 starters, so securing your spot early is advised.
On race day, there will be a schedule of registration, bib collection, and race briefings for each distance category. And of course, don't forget to grab yourself a cool event t-shirt as a memento of this memorable experience.
Now, let's talk about preparation. It's crucial to come well-equipped with hydration and nutrition, especially as some parts of the trail are quite remote. For the 26 km run, there will be a water point available, while the 52 km course is equipped with four water points. We recommend carrying at least 1.5 litres of water for the 26 km and at least 2.0 litres for the 52 km. Additionally, there are two checkpoints along the 52 km course where drop bags can be found.
After you've conquered the trails, you'll be rewarded with post-race refreshments to replenish your energy levels and celebrate your achievements. It's the perfect way to end a day of thrilling running.
The event kicks off from the picturesque Mulligan's Hut Picnic Area in the Gibraltar Range National Park. Camping at Mulligans Hut Camping Ground is highly recommended, as it offers facilities and even a refreshing swimming hole to cool off in after your run. However, if camping isn't your thing, the historic town of Glen Innes serves as a convenient base for your stay.

You'll have the option to choose from three different courses: a scenic 9 km course, a challenging 26 km course, and for those seeking the ultimate test of endurance, an ultra option of 52 km.
