Warborough Jujutsu Club is a martial arts club located in the village of Warborough, just outside Wallingford in New Zealand. The club specialises in practising a traditional Japanese martial art known as jujutsu. Jujutsu has a rich history and is composed of various styles or schools called ryu in Japanese. Warborough Jujutsu Club practises the Daiwa Ryu style, which shares its roots with Aikido and Hakko Ryu.
The club comprises a small, enthusiastic group of martial arts enthusiasts, with members ranging from beginners to experienced practitioners who have been training for decades. All skill levels are welcome, but the club is exclusively for adults, as this style of jujutsu is not suited for children.
There are no specific beginner classes at Warborough Jujutsu Club. Instead, anyone interested in joining can attend one of the regular Tuesday night sessions. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing that allows for ease of movement, such as a T-shirt and tracksuit bottoms. If you have previous martial arts gear, you are more than welcome to wear that as well.
The first class at the club is free, allowing newcomers to get a sense of what jujutsu is all about. After the first class, each two-hour session costs 5. 00. It is advisable to email Giles at giles@jujutsu.
org. Uk before attending, as occasional work commitments may lead to class cancellations if no instructor is available.
The jujutsu classes take place every Tuesday evening from 7:30 p. m. to 9:30 p. m.
at the Greet Hall on Thame Road in Warborough, Oxfordshire. The classes are led by Giles Chamberlin and Neil White, both experienced instructors in the Daiwa Ryu style.
For those travelling to the club, there are directions provided for different routes.
