Oxford Wakeboard & Ski Club (OWSC), located in Wallingford, is a water-skiing and wakeboarding club with two sheltered lakes, top-class tournament boats, excellent facilities, and a friendly atmosphere. The club is dedicated to providing a centre of excellence for all levels and disciplines of water-skiing and wakeboarding, from beginners to experienced skiers/riders.
OWSC is led by Steve Glanfield, a former British Waterski and Wakeboard (BWSW) Head Coach and Under 21 Team Captain, who is responsible for the day-to-day coaching and smooth running of the club. With its affiliation to BWSW, the club offers boat driver training and SBD Level 2 and 3 courses, ensuring the highest standards of safety and professionalism.
The club boasts dedicated tournament ski boats and a wakeboard boat with a tower that creates a monster wake for more experienced riders. The tournament ski boat is perfect for beginner riders and slalom skiers, equipped with a removable training boom for beginner lessons. Both boats are equipped with Zero Off cruise control for accurate towing speeds and run on LPG, ensuring minimal air and water pollution.
OWSC provides a wide range of equipment, including boards, skis, and wetsuits, to cater to skiers and riders of all levels. The club prioritises the safety and enjoyment of its members, offering a sauna and hot showers on-site for relaxation and comfort after a day on the water.
The club is proud to be home to the current world slalom champion, Freddie Winter. Freddie can often be found at the club, socialising with members and sharing his knowledge and expertise. His presence adds a unique and inspiring touch to the club.
OWSC operates from a fully equipped clubhouse at Queenford Lakes Watersports Centre. The centre offers free parking and is easily accessible by main roads, bus, or train.
