Since the early 2000s, Waikato Hockey Association has been growing the sport locally. Shelley Bishop, their Acting CEO, ensures an inclusive environment for everyone. They've got programmes for both senior and junior players - coaching, summer leagues, tournaments, you name it. They also focus on training umpires, so if you're keen to whack a whistle, there's a spot for you too.
The Gallagher Hockey Centre at Innes Common is where all the action happens. Multiple fields, top-grade turf, changing rooms, and plenty of seats for fans – it's got the lot. And if you need gear, their shop stocks everything from sticks to shoes. The staff there know their stuff and are keen to help you pick the right kit.
