Waihola Yacht Club, located on the beautiful shores of Lake Waihola, just 30 minutes south of Dunedin, offers a variety of sailing options including Optimists, Starlings, Sunbursts, Kayaks, and a Nolex 22.

John at Waihola Yacht Club extends a warm welcome to new members looking to enjoy sailing on the lake. The club provides an excellent experience for both children and adults, with positive feedback highlighting the fun and educational aspects of sailing.

Students from Elmgrove School and Pine Hill School have had great experiences with the club, learning about concentration, teamwork, and the thrill of steering. These young sailors have built confidence and navigated both the lake and the harbour.

Throughout the year, John organises various events to foster a lively sailing community. A highlight is the Bridge to Bridge River Run, where crews race from Henley to the bridge at Taieri mouth, strategically timed with the tides. Trophies add a competitive touch to the event.

The club also hosts an open day, welcoming everyone to experience sailing. Whether you're experienced or a novice, members are on hand to assist, and you can sail on a club yacht or bring your own vessel.
