Welcome to Victoria Playing Fields Football Club (VPFC). VPFC is a friendly and inclusive football club located in St Albans, New Zealand. We are an FA-affiliated club catering to primary school-age children, both girls and boys, from Reception to Year 6. Our training sessions are led by FA-trained coaches and take place on Saturday mornings from 9:30-11:00am at three convenient locations in St Albans.
At VPFC, our primary focus is on improving ball skills, building confidence, fostering teamwork, and, above all, ensuring that all our players have fun! We prioritise inclusivity and skills development over league play. While we do play end-of-session games and offer ad hoc friendly games and end-of-season tournaments, we are not a member of a league and do not participate in league fixtures.
For our members who become interested in league football, we have a “feeder club” relationship with St Albans Rangers, which allows them to take the next step in the future. We operate as a not-for-profit Unincorporated Association, run entirely by volunteers. Our low subscriptions only cover costs, and all time and resources are reinvested in equipment, insurance, entry fees, and kit for the benefit of our players, parents, and community. Coaches and office holders donate their time voluntarily, and no salaries are paid.
If you're looking for a supportive and welcoming environment where your child can learn and enjoy the beautiful game of football, VPFC is the place for you. Visit our “Join Us” page to find information on how to register with us.
VPFC's training sessions are held at three home locations in the heart of St Albans, each just a five-minute walk from the others. Our three locations are Victoria Playing Field, The Brickie, and the Aboyne Lodge School Playing Field. Victoria Playing Field is located between Verulam Road, Folly Lane, and Church Crescent. The Brickie, also known as the New England Street Playing Area, can be found off New England Street and Mount Pleasant.
The Aboyne Lodge School Playing Field is situated off Normandy Road.
Each location caters to different year groups, with Victoria Playing Field hosting five year groups. We have experienced head coaches, such as Paul Sheehan, Neil Harrison, Chris Hawkins, Ben Nelson, Charles Whitehead, Dan Van Leempoel, and Don Keigher, leading the respective groups. If you're new to one of our locations, don't hesitate to approach our coaches or existing parents for assistance. They are always happy to answer any questions and ensure that you and your child feel comfortable.
During the winter, we occasionally spend some weeks away from our home locations to preserve our pitches and offer different experiences for our children. We have found a fantastic option at Harpenden Rugby Club, which provides modern, excellent value-for-money, and easily accessible facilities. The drive from St Albans to Harpenden takes approximately 8 minutes via Redbourn Road. However, please note that when playing at Harpenden, your child should wear football boots with studs or blades as flat-soled trainers are not allowed on the pitch.
Additionally, we kindly request that parents do not step onto the field.
Our sessions run each Saturday during school term time, and we take a break during school holidays. If you're unsure whether we're running a session on a particular Saturday, a simple guide is that if.
