Verve Massage & Movement for Life, located in Longford, Tasmania, is a massage and martial arts school offering a range of services to enhance both physical and mental well-being. With a focus on remedial massage, stretching and flexibility, self-defence, and martial arts classes, Verve has been serving the Northern Midlands community since 2005.
The school specialises in remedial massage techniques such as deep-tissue massage, lymphatic drainage, and Swedish massage. These therapeutic treatments are designed to address specific musculoskeletal issues, providing relief from pain and promoting overall relaxation and rejuvenation.
In addition to massage services, Verve offers self-defence and historical fencing classes, teaching historically documented methods of defence from the years 1599 to 1711. Led by highly trained instructors, these classes offer a unique opportunity for students to learn valuable self-defence techniques while immersing themselves in the historical context of European martial arts.
Private lessons and group classes are available for both massage and martial arts disciplines. Whether one-on-one or in a group setting, Verve's skilled instructors provide personalised attention and guidance to help students achieve their individual goals.
Verve also specialises in stretching and flexibility therapies. With assisted stretching techniques and flexibility development programmes, they aim to improve joint range-of-movement, particularly for individuals recovering from surgery or seeking to enhance their overall flexibility.
Matthew Boyd, a qualified remedial masseur and teacher/instructor, leads the team at Verve. With a background in sports, including rugby union and field athletics, Matthew holds a Bachelor of Physical and Health Education degree from the University of Wollongong and a Diploma of Remedial Massage from Karuna College. His expertise also extends to martial arts, having trained in Hapkido and Chonjo under Korean Master Jinho Guahk, becoming the Tasmanian instructor for Chonjo in 2004.
Matthew's passion for providing high-quality services to the local community is evident in his commitment to raising awareness of historical European martial arts and studying their cultural context. He resides in Longford with his wife and four children, and his dedication to promoting a holistic approach to health and well-being is reflected in the ethos of Verve.
