Welcome to Velosport Cycling Club Putney! This road cycling club is located in Putney, South West London, near Fulham, Wandsworth, and Wimbledon. Whether you're a beginner looking to improve your skills or an experienced elite cyclist, Velosport Cycling Club provides a supportive and friendly environment for you to develop your riding abilities.
Velosport Cycling Club is an inclusive and welcoming club that was established in 2011. With a membership of over 80 members, we are proud that over 10% of our members are women. We strive to create a sense of community among our members by supporting each other in achieving cycling goals and offering a wide range of activities both on and off the bike.
At Velosport CC, we believe that cycling should be a sport for everyone, regardless of gender, race, age, or beliefs. We welcome members from all backgrounds, whether you simply enjoy riding your bike and want to stay fit or if you're seeking training support for a major event.
Our club's history dates back to 2011 when Steve James opened the Velosport cycling shop in Putney. Not long after the shop's opening, Steve began organising regular midweek rides, initially attended by staff and a few customers. In 2013, the Velosport shop was approached by Wandsworth Council and asked to establish a friendly and inclusive local cycling club. This led to the transformation of the informal rides into the British Cycling affiliated club, known as Velosport Cycling Club.
Over the years, the club has grown steadily, and you will now see groups of club riders wearing our iconic orange and black club kit in various areas such as the Surrey Hills, Berkshire, Kent Lanes, Chilterns, and even European sportives.

In 2015, Velosport partnered with the existing women's UCI team Servetto Footon to establish a women's elite development team consisting of six riders, including British Time Trial Champion Hayley Simmonds. This team was created as a stepping stone for talented riders on their path to a professional cycling career.
Our club is led by a dedicated committee, including Chairman Jean-Roch Meunier, Membership Secretary Alex Diez, Club Captain Duncan Edwards, Social Events Manager Oliver Wilkinson, Treasurer/Kit Simon Lowe, and Cycle Events Manager Ali Ataie.
