UpSpring Therapy, located in Kingston, is led by Bethany Smith, MA, RP, PMH-C, a Registered Psychotherapist with a passion for supporting clients in strengthening inner resources, setting healthy boundaries, and finding more ease and joy in their lives. With ten years of experience, Bethany specializes in trauma therapy, perinatal mental health, and care for helping professionals. Drawing upon therapeutic modalities such as narrative therapy, mindfulness, parts work, and EMDR, Bethany is dedicated to helping clients navigate anxiety, self-doubt, and inner critic while addressing traumatic experiences.

Bethany's practice is deeply rooted in an anti-oppressive framework, recognizing systemic violence and trauma, as well as resistance and resilience. As a settler living on the traditional territory of the Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee, and the Huron-Wendat, Bethany is committed to confronting colonial, patriarchal, and white supremacist biases both internally and within the community. She actively seeks feedback and critique as she continues to learn and unlearn in her journey as a therapist.

In addition to running her practice, Bethany provides clinical supervision at Sexual Assault Centre Kingston. She believes in the power of ongoing personal growth and development, participating in therapy, professional development, and clinical consultation. Outside of her work, Bethany enjoys reading, listening to podcasts, and spending time outdoors with loved ones.
