Upaaya Yoga and Vedanta Centre, located in Baulkham Hills, Sydney, is a holistic yoga studio dedicated to providing students with the means to seek within themselves for personal growth and wellbeing. The name “Upaaya” is derived from Sanskrit and translates to “a way,” “a means,” or “an effort” to achieve a purpose.
The centre's mission is to guide students on a journey towards self-discovery and connexion with their higher consciousness. With a focus on holistic wellbeing, Upaaya incorporates various practises such as asanas (physical postures), pranayama (controlled breathing), and guided meditation to promote physical, mental, and spiritual balance.
In addition to these traditional yoga practises, Upaaya also integrates jnana, the knowledge that stimulates contemplation and self-reflection. By encouraging students to look within, Upaaya believes that the answers to life's questions lie within themselves, much like an ember in the ashes.
Built on the principles of karma yoga, Upaaya strives for excellence in its actions while remaining detached from the outcomes. The centre's vision extends beyond personal growth, aiming to generate resources through its teachings to make a positive difference in the lives of the less privileged. By joining Upaaya, students have the opportunity to contribute to this mission and provide the means for those in need.
At Upaaya, a range of yoga classes and courses are offered to cater to different levels and needs. The centre provides yoga classes for adults, including gentle, standard, and advanced sessions, as well as specialised classes for kids and pregnant women. For those seeking a more personalised experience, private classes are available.
Dipti Sampath, the lead yoga instructor at Upaaya, is a Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance. With over fifteen years of experience in the practise of yoga, she incorporates a variety of traditional hatha yoga practises in movement, breathwork, and meditation. Dipti is a management consultant by profession and has completed her Yoga Instructor Course from S-VYASA University, India, and a Masters in Yoga from Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Dhanwantari Ashram, India. Her journey into yoga has been enriched by various courses and practises, including Vipassana, MCKS Pranic healing, and Art of Living.
As a dedicated student herself, Dipti is passionate about sharing her knowledge and experience with others. Her goal is to contribute to the benefit and upliftment of society through teaching and promoting the practise of yoga. Upaaya is the realisation of her dream to create a space where individuals can find peace, equanimity, and self-discovery.
