About

The University of WA Athletics Club, established in 1928, is one of Western Australia's oldest and most successful athletics clubs. It offers membership to athletes aged 11 and above, both students and the public. The club is affiliated with The University of WA Sport and follows the governance of Athletics West and Athletics Australia. Their policies, including relay and training ground and coaching policy, are in line with the standards set by Athletics Australia.

Registrations for the 2023/24 season are currently open, and interested athletes can visit the club's website to sign up. As an affiliated club of Athletics Western Australia, UWA Athletics Club members are eligible to compete in regular competitions hosted by Athletics WA from October to March. They also have the opportunity to participate in the WA State Track & Field Championships.

There are several reasons to join UWA Athletics Club. Members have the privilege of competing for the club at weekly competitions held at the WA Athletics Stadium, with a fee of $15 per meet for unlimited events. They can also participate in the WA State Championships, open to age groups under 14 and up to Open Age Groups. Furthermore, members enjoy a 20% discount on physiotherapy and massage services at Ascend Physiotherapy, along with a 10% discount at Peak Podiatry.

They have access to training at McGillivray Oval, and UWAAC offers assistance funding for travel.

For athletes over 18, there is the possibility of joining the interstate host family programme, and UWA students may have access to subsidised coaching, leadership, or first aid courses. The club hosts various social events and gatherings throughout the year, including a club awards night, annual quiz night, and relays.

To stay updated on club news, members can subscribe to the mailing list or follow UWA Athletics Club on Facebook and Instagram. The club's website provides detailed information on coaching, training, and other related topics.

For those interested in the season programme and live results, Athletics West provides relevant information on their website. UWAAC also publishes newsletters, such as the Fatman issue, to keep members informed about the latest updates. The club is proud to have a new committee for the 2023-24 season, and it congratulates individuals who have been honoured with Life Memberships for their exceptional commitment and leadership.

Upcoming events include the All Comers 4 by 400m Relay and the 2023 UWA Big 6, where spectators can witness top athletes from Western Australia competing in various events alongside UWAAC competition.

UWA Athletics Club is a vibrant and dynamic sports club that offers a range of opportunities for athletes of all abilities and ages. With its rich history, strong affiliations, and commitment to excellence, it continues to be a leading athletics club in Western Australia.
