United Services Bowls Club, located in Stanford-le-Hope, Essex, has been a cornerstone of the community since 1968. Gary, the organiser, wants everyone to know that this friendly mixed lawn bowls club is open to all, from beginners to seasoned players.
The club hosts a variety of friendly games, matches, and competitive fixtures throughout the year. Social events are also organised with the neighbouring Rugby and Cricket Clubs, and the annual presentation night at the end of the season is always a big hit.
United Services Bowls Club is conveniently situated at the Recreation Ground on Grove Road. The club shares a spacious bar area with the Stanford Rugby and Cricket teams, which is also available for hire.
Gary encourages anyone interested in trying lawn bowls to visit the club. By clicking on the contact button on the club's website, visitors can leave their details, and a club member will arrange a visit for them.
The club has a busy schedule of events. In April, there's a coffee morning, followed by a friendly match between the Stanford Le Hope Rugby Club and Stanford Le Hope Cricket Club, complete with a BBQ. June features a day at the Romford Dogs, July has a quiz night, and August brings a casino night. The club's finals day is in September.
The year wraps up with the annual general meeting in November and a presentation evening in December.
Throughout the season, friendly fixtures against other clubs are organised, providing opportunities for members to compete and socialise. Members can participate in matches like the Memorial Shield, games against Thurrock, and Castle Point, fostering camaraderie and engagement in the sport.
The club appreciates its sponsors, proudly displaying their logos on the website. Esteemed supporters include Chambers Timber, L. E. Brand & Sons, Alpha Auto Services, DJ Blinds & Shutters, Bengal Bar & Restaurant, Hodge Jones & Allen, and Blue Planet Consulting.
With its welcoming atmosphere and vibrant events, United Services Bowls Club offers an enjoyable experience for bowlers in Stanford-le-Hope and the surrounding area. Please reach out and get involved – Gary looks forward to seeing new faces on the green!
