“Townsville Stinger Net 1” is a popular outdoor swimming pool located in Townsville City, Australia. Situated on the northern end of The Strand, this stinger resistant seawater pool offers a safe and enjoyable swimming experience for locals and tourists alike.
The pool features a gently sloped design, with a shallow area suitable for wheelchair access and children, leading into a deeper area for swimming. Facilities at “Townsville Stinger Net 1” include toilets with both male, female, and disabled access, BBQ and picnic facilities, a children's playground, and outdoor showers. Parking is available along Howitt Street and The Strand promenade, with disabled parking bays provided.
A lifeguard is on duty daily, ensuring the safety of swimmers. The pool is closed every Wednesday for cleaning, excluding public holidays. Visitors can take a virtual tour of the rockpool on the website, allowing them to explore the facilities before their visit.

During the stinger season, which runs from November to May, stinger nets are installed at various Townsville beaches, including The Strand. These nets are removed only after the season ends and once no stingers are caught in daily net drags for 14 consecutive days.
