Join Top End Orienteers for Sunday morning foot orienteering courses at Gunn in Palmerston. The event is open to all, catering to a range of abilities, including newcomers. Three line courses are available - Easy, Moderate, and Hard. Participants will traverse streets, reserves, and bushland areas in and around the Gunn Escarpment, including Sanctuary Lakes Park. The Easy course is child and pram friendly. Actual distances during the event may be 20-50% longer due to the nature of orienteering.
The event uses the MapRun app for calculating elapsed times, so participants are required to carry their mobile phones with the app installed. A 'punch' card will also be provided for manual checkpoint visitation. A compass may be useful for the Moderate and Hard courses but is not essential. Please note that there are no public toilets at the start. Cash and electronic payments are accepted.
Don't forget to bring your compass, water bottle, sun protection, walking shoes, comfortable clothes, picnic rug, and snacks for after. Coaching sessions are available, and participants can stop for a chat and relax in the shade after the event. Directions to the start location at Ormiston Ct will be provided on the day.
