Alex from Tokui Karate Union has set up some fantastic weekly training sessions across different venues and wants to share the details with you. Here's the lowdown:
Monday - Hull: Training every Monday from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM. Suitable for all ages and abilities.
Tuesday - East Park: Training every Tuesday from 6 PM to 7 PM. Great for kids aged 6 and above.
Wednesday - Welton Club: Sessions every Wednesday from 5:30 PM to 7 PM. Open to kids aged 8 and above, as well as adults.
Thursday - Hessle Club: Join in every Thursday from 6 PM to 7 PM. Suitable for all ages and abilities.
Friday - Skidby Club: Every Friday from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM. Ideal for kids aged 6 and above.
Saturday - Costello Stadium: Sessions every Saturday from 12 PM to 1 PM. Suitable for all ages and abilities.
Sunday - East Park: Another chance to train at East Park every Sunday from 10 AM to 11 AM. Suitable for all ages and abilities.
Alex and the team at Tokui Karate Union focus on developing both physical and mental strength. They teach good manners, self-discipline, and mutual respect, aiming to promote decency and respect in society.
As the official governing body for karate in Hull, the TKU is a full member of the English Karate Federation and is recognised by British, European, and World Karate Federations. They’re also involved with ERVAS and all the local TKU clubs are ERCAS accredited.
Whether you're new to karate or looking to improve your techniques, TKU welcomes everyone. They have a new starter’s pack available for download on their website, along with plenty of useful resources.
The club operates on the belief that karate is about more than just self-defence—it's about personal growth and developing a strong character. All instructors have current DBS checks, first aid qualifications, and instructor certificates. Plus, all members are insured and registered with the English Karate Federation.
No membership fees, but a karate licence is required after a couple of weeks of training. It costs £15 for juniors and seniors and includes insurance and EF affiliation.
