In 1984, Gursharan fulfilled a lifelong dream by travelling to Japan and training in a Japanese dojo under the guidance of Sensei Hirokazu Kanazawa. In 1993, Gursharan established his own association, TISKA (The Traditional International Shotokan Karate Association), which has grown to become one of the largest associations in the UK.

Throughout his career, he has mentored countless students of all ages, guiding them to black belt standard and beyond.
