Timmy B Yoga is a highly experienced and qualified Yoga instructor based in Marlborough, New Zealand. With a passion for Yoga and over 30 years of experience in the business world, Timmy B has found his true calling in helping others transform their mind and body through Yoga practise.
At Timmy B Yoga, the belief is that Yoga is for everyone, regardless of age or flexibility level. Regular practise of Yoga has been proven to reduce stress, improve flexibility and balance, and build strength in all core muscle groups. It also has numerous mental benefits, such as calming the mind, enhancing clarity of thought, and facilitating better decision-making.
Inspired by Forrest Yoga, a variation of Hatha Yoga developed by Ana Forrest in the 1970s, Timmy B's classes follow a similar format. They begin with centering and breathing exercises to connect the body and calm the mind. Warm-up exercises are then followed by more active poses, including abdominals, to build heat and strength in the body. Most classes also incorporate sun salutations for a complete and well-rounded practise.
Each class concludes with a relaxation period, often guided or through visualisation, to promote relaxation and release any lingering tension.
What sets Forrest Yoga apart is its focus on active hands and active feet during poses. This activation not only enhances the feel of the poses but also activates the inner thigh line, bringing the poses to life. The practise also includes modified poses designed to release tension in the neck, shoulders, and hips, counteracting the negative effects of modern-day lifestyles such as extended phone use and desk work. Additionally, hands-on assists are available in class, allowing students to deepen their practise in a safe and controlled manner.
No prior experience is necessary to join Timmy B's classes. All you need is a yoga mat and the willingness to give it a try. Private one-on-one sessions are also available for those who want to build confidence or need assistance with specific needs, such as major medical or spinal injuries. Timmy B's personal journey with Yoga, starting relatively late in life, serves as an inspiration to all who think they cannot do it.
Timmy B's qualifications showcase his commitment to learning and expanding his knowledge of Yoga and its various forms. He first qualified in Hatha Yoga in 2019 and has since completed his Advanced Forrest Yoga Teacher Training with Ana Forrest. He has also undergone additional training in re-Balance Yoga, which integrates Forrest Yoga with Body Psychotherapy. Additionally, he is qualified in Restorative Yoga and Special Needs Yoga, focusing on students with injuries and disabilities.
Timmy B's dedication to his craft is evident through his completion of a year-long mentorship programme with Sandra Robinson, a senior Forrest Teacher and Chartered Body Psychotherapist, further deepening his understanding of Forrest Yoga and incorporating body psychotherapy techniques into the practise.
