Jake from The Tai Chi Effect Newhaven wants to keep everyone in the loop about the upcoming term. Located right in the heart of Newhaven, East Sussex, Jake offers two Monday morning classes at the Hillcrest Community Centre – Qigong and Tai Chi Foundations from 9:30am to 10:30am, followed by Wu Style Tai Chi Short Form from 10:30am to 11:30am.
The Qigong and Tai Chi Foundations class is perfect for beginners. It focuses on the basics with simple and potent Qigong movements and fundamental Tai Chi techniques. This hour-long session aims to develop relaxed strength throughout your body. While it's not compulsory to start here before diving into the Wu Style Tai Chi Short Form, it certainly helps smooth the journey.
In this introductory class, you'll explore gentle yet impactful movements, learn to shift your weight, turn with steady hips, and sink your chi. Expect to practise forms like Cloud Hands, The Marriage of Heaven and Earth, and The Willow Tree form.
Classes run in 10-week terms throughout the year for £90. Jake, who trained with Lineage Grand Master Bruce Frantzis and holds certification from The Tai Chi Union of Great Britain, shares his deep knowledge and practical experience. Please note, there won't be classes during school holidays, bank holidays, Christmas, or August.
Right after the foundations class, from 10:30am to 11:30am, Jake delves into the Wu Style Tai Chi Short Form. This class focuses on enhancing health, building relaxed strength, and boosting vitality. It’s especially great for the back and spine. While it’s not mandatory to attend the foundations class first, doing so could really help you get the hang of it quicker.
The Wu Style Short Form includes 16 moves that fit neatly into a five-minute sequence – ideal if you're juggling a busy schedule. It aims to offer maximum internal benefits with minimal external movement, perfect for any age.
If you're keen on both sessions, there’s a deal for you – attend both classes for £90 over the 10-week term.
