The Ainsdale Club is a vibrant and community-centred sports club located in the heart of Ainsdale, Southport. With its thriving bar and sports facilities, The Ainsdale Club offers a welcoming environment for people of all ages and interests.
The clubhouse features a comfortable lounge area and a well-stocked sports bar, which can accommodate up to 85 people. The bar offers a wide variety of beers, spirits, and wines, including a full gin menu and a selection of fine wines and craft beers. Visitors can also enjoy delicious food from a simple menu.
In addition to being a social hub, The Ainsdale Club caters to various sporting activities. The club hosts cricket, football, and lawn bowls teams, each with a rich history and a strong presence in the community.
The football club, known as Southport and Ainsdale Amateurs FC, was established in 2012 and consists of 17 teams, both senior and junior. They continuously enhance their facilities, including the main pitch, which now features dugouts and seating, as well as two junior football pitches.
The cricket club has been active since 1911 and has been based at the same ground since 1922. During the lockdown period, significant improvements were made to the grounds, and the club has successfully engaged a professional fast bowler from Pakistan. They have also revitalised their youth section, encouraging young boys and girls to join their ranks.
The Ainsdale Club's lawn bowls section relocated to its current green in 1977, having previously operated from the Railway Hotel Ainsdale. With over 120 members, it is the largest bowls club in Southport. Social bowling is enjoyed by all members, and the men's teams compete in the Southport Parks league, while the mixed teams participate in the Ormskirk, Southport Vets, and Westhead leagues. The ladies teams, on the other hand, play in the Southport Ladies and Southport Ladies Vets leagues.
Beyond sports, The Ainsdale Club accommodates various community groups and hosts regular events. The Magic Circle meets on alternate Mondays, Slimming World holds sessions on Saturday mornings, and the Ainsdale Labour Party gathers at the club monthly.
If you're interested in getting involved, The Ainsdale Club welcomes new members. They specifically encourage more ladies to join and participate in creating and building teams for football, cricket, and junior players. The club places a strong focus on supporting and nurturing new talent, so they urge anyone with an interest in these sports or organising ladies' events to reach out to any member of the committee.
The Ainsdale Club has recently completed a refurbishment of its sports bar, providing an even more inviting and enjoyable experience for members and guests.
