Toorak East Malvern Hockey Club (TEM) is a prominent and thriving sports club located in Melbourne's inner eastern suburbs. The club boasts a strong Men and Women's Senior section, as well as Mixed, boys, and girls Junior teams ranging from U8s to U16s. There are also relaxed Masters, Summer, and Indoor sections that cater to different playing preferences and levels of competition.
TEM provides a welcoming environment for new players and offers several introductory Hook In2 Hockey sessions throughout the year to help beginners get started and enjoy the sport. The club's home games are held on two state-of-the-art artificial pitches at the Hawthorn-Malvern Hockey Centre on Auburn Road in Hawthorn. The facility offers ample parking options near the Monash Freeway and is shared with the Hawthorn Hockey Club.
TEM Hockey Club acknowledges and respects the Traditional Custodians of the land, the Wurundjeri People of the Kulin Nation, and pays tribute to their Elders past, present, and emerging. The club also recognises and respects the Traditional Custodians of lands across Victoria and Australia where hockey is played.
Registration for the 2023 winter season is now open, and TEM is eager to welcome new players and experienced athletes alike. The club has a diverse range of teams to accommodate various skill levels, from top League and top League Reserves for Senior Men and Women to Pennants A, B, C, E, and Metro divisions. This ensures that every player can find a suitable team regardless of their ability.
TEM's Junior section continues to grow, with the club being one of the few to field Mixed Shield and Girls' Shield teams in each of the U12, U14, and U16 competitions. The Masters and Open Age mid-week teams offer older members the opportunity to enjoy hockey in a social setting, either against players of similar age or for those with weekend commitments.
The club understands the financial challenges members may face due to inflation and has made the decision to absorb any increase in expenses for the 2023 season. TEM's fees remain unchanged from the previous year. However, it's important to note that players must also pay the HV/HA fees required by the governing bodies before they can participate.
TEM offers a range of subscription fees, including discounted rates for goalkeepers who provide their own equipment. The fees vary based on age group and playing category, ensuring a fair and affordable membership structure for all. Full-time students playing in premier League or Reserves and Masters/Open age midweek players who also participate in Senior teams have specific fee categories as well.
TEM Hockey Club prides itself on providing a buzzing and inclusive environment for newcomers, as well as a strong and competitive platform for experienced players. With outstanding facilities, a variety of teams and sections, and a commitment to player welfare, TEM is truly a leading choice for hockey enthusiasts in Melbourne's east.
