Tatong Angling Club (TAG) is a local fishing club based in Benalla Rural City. Established in 1992 by a group of passionate fishermen, TAG focuses on addressing concerns regarding fish stocks and water quality in local streams. With a membership of around 70 individuals, TAG is a family-friendly club that welcomes anglers of all ages.
As an affiliated member of the Goulburn Valley Association of Angling Clubs (GVAAC), TAG actively participates in meetings held in Shepparton. The club organises six to eight fishing trips each year, offering a diverse range of fishing experiences throughout the region. From fishing for Murray Cod and Yellowbelly at Bundalong to Trout fishing at Lake Eildon and Lake Hume, TAG ensures a variety of exciting opportunities for its members.
TAG also arranges camping trips on private properties, allowing members to enjoy fishing for Trout in local streams and Lake Dartmouth. In addition, the club has organised charter trips to Western Port and Port Phillip Bay in the past, targeting different species from sharks to flathead.
Deeply committed to conservation efforts, TAG actively collaborates with Fisheries Victoria in planning and releasing fish stocks such as Trout, Murray Cod, and Yellowbelly into local rivers, streams, and lakes. The club's members have also been actively involved in conservation projects on the Hollands and Ryan Creeks.
For those who wish to get in touch with TAG, Mr. John Gebauer can be reached at 0419 527-765 or via email. Further information about the club can also be found on its Facebook page.
