Tatong Angling Club (TAG) is a sports club located in Benalla Rural City, Victoria. Established in 1992, TAG was formed by a group of concerned fishermen who were alarmed by the declining fish stocks and poor water quality in local streams. Over the years, the club has expanded to include approximately 70 members and has become a vibrant and inclusive community for anglers of all ages.
TAG is a family-oriented club that welcomes both young and older members. As an affiliated member of the Goulburn Valley Association of Angling Clubs (GVAAC), TAG actively participates in its meetings held in Shepparton. The club organises six to eight fishing trips per year, offering a wide range of fishing opportunities. These trips cover various locations throughout the region, including Bundalong for Murray Cod and Yellowbelly, Lake Eildon/Lake Hume for Trout, Redfin, Yellowbelly, and Cod, Lake Dartmouth for Trout, and Mitta Mitta River for camping and Trout fishing in local streams and Lake Dartmouth.
In the past, the club has also organised charter trips to Western Port and Port Phillip Bay, targeting species from sharks to flathead.
In addition to organising fishing trips, TAG is actively engaged with Fisheries Victoria in planning and releasing fish stocks, such as Trout, Murray Cod, and Yellowbelly, into local rivers, streams, and lakes. The club members are also involved in conservation projects, particularly on the Hollands and Ryan Creeks.
