The Taranaki Radio Control Car Club is a well-established racing track located in New Plymouth. With over 34 years of experience, the club has become a prominent fixture in the racing community. However, due to the increasing commercial value of their previous location, the club has been asked to relocate. Fortunately, the New Plymouth District Council has generously provided the club with a picturesque piece of land in Fitzroy, offering a stunning view of Lake Rotomanu and the walk bridge.
The new facility, designed with modern amenities, aims to provide a world-class racing experience to enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels. The club takes pride in offering affordable racing opportunities and fostering qualities such as attention to detail and pride among young participants. From club days to world events, the Taranaki Radio Control Car Club caters to all levels of racing. Notably, the club has produced multiple New Zealand and Australian champions, solidifying their reputation as a hub for competitive racing.
To support the redevelopment of their R/C facility, the club welcomes donations. Every contribution received will go directly towards enhancing the racing experience for members and visitors alike.
The club currently operates at three different locations, each catering to specific racing disciplines. The on-road facilities are situated at the base of Paritutu Rock on Centennial Drive, offering a breathtaking view of the New Plymouth Power Station and Port Taranaki. Just a five-minute drive from the city centre, this outdoor sealed track provides an exhilarating racing experience.
For off-road enthusiasts, the club has a dedicated site located on Clemow Road, right next to Lake Rotomanu. Also just a five-minute drive from the city centre, this off-road track offers an exciting and challenging terrain for racers to navigate.
Although the club is currently searching for a new indoor venue, they remain committed to providing a comprehensive racing experience for their members.
