Taita District Cricket Club (TDCC) is a well-established and highly-regarded cricket club located in Lower Hutt, New Zealand. Founded in 1933, TDCC has grown to become one of the strongest clubs in Wellington cricket, offering a range of excellent facilities, coaching programmes, and a vibrant social scene.
The club is based at the Ricoh Fraser Park Sportsville Centre at Fraser Park, which serves as the home ground and clubrooms for TDCC. The facility boasts a state-of-the-art three-lane indoor training centre, equipped with a bowling machine, which is accessible for all club members. Additionally, the centre houses six squash courts, a caf on the lower level, and a bar and restaurant upstairs. TDCC members enjoy discounted prices at the bar and when using the squash courts.
TDCC is proud of its rich history and success in various championships. The club has won the Wilford Kerr Shield Hutt Valley title multiple times, including in 1952/53, 1956/57, 1958/59, and more. TDCC has also achieved success in T20 competitions, winning the top T20 title in 2014/15 and 2017/18, as well as the Ewen Chatfield One Day Champions in 2020/21.
Over the years, TDCC has produced talented cricketers who have represented New Zealand at various levels. Notable international players who have come through the club include Anna OLeary, Justine Fryer, and Frances King for the White Ferns, as well as Logan Van Beek for the Netherlands and New Zealand A and under 19 teams. The club has also had players represent the Wellington Firebirds and Blaze, such as Phil Schofer, Dave Little, and Megan Wakefield.
TDCCs vision is to be the best cricket club in Wellington, with a strong focus on creating an environment that allows players to reach their full potential. The club places great importance on loyalty, commitment, respect, and striving for excellence, both on and off the field.
In addition to its cricket activities, TDCC also hosts various events, such as the upcoming Barry Clarke 90th Birthday Bash on January 20, 2024, and the Taitanium Lunch on February 10, 2023. The club actively engages with the community, offering a unique funding platform to support its activities.
