Hamish, Martina, and Lisa would like to extend their thanks to the sports community for their ongoing support of SwimWright, the swimming club based in Lower Hutt, Wellington. Throughout the years, they have strived to provide top-notch swimming lessons for children aged three and above.
Hamish, who has developed SwimWright’s programme over many years with influences from Canadian, Australian, and Russian swim teaching philosophies, leads the team. Together with Martina and Lisa, they bring a wealth of experience and are dedicated to helping each child reach their swimming potential.
Their programme is structured to bring children up to the pre-competitive level. Completing a term or two in the Advanced Improver 3 class means kids are ready to join competitive squads, water sports teams, or other swim clubs. The teaching method remains consistent across all levels, ensuring a cohesive learning experience.
Lessons cater to different ages and skill levels. Their preschool programme has three levels, focusing on foundational skills like breath control, propulsion, submersion, and floating, gradually introducing more advanced strokes like freestyle, backstroke, and butterfly.
For school-age kids, there are classes ranging from Beginners to Advanced Improver levels. Beginners build water confidence and basic skills, while the Advanced Improver classes hone techniques in freestyle, backstroke, butterfly, and introduce breaststroke. The top Advanced Improver 3 level features drills and whole stroke workouts to enhance technique and fitness across all four strokes.
One aspect SwimWright prides itself on is offering a quiet learning environment with only one class in the pool at a time. The water is kept at a comfortable 33 to 34 degrees Celsius. Evening weekday lessons and weekend daytime sessions cater to school-age children, while preschool lessons are available on Mondays, Wednesdays, and some weekends.
Currently, SwimWright is operating at full capacity with a waitlist for returning swimmers, and cannot take in new families at this time. The term fee stands at $195 for a ten-week term.
By focusing on quality instruction and a supportive learning environment, Hamish, Martina, and Lisa aim to help kids become confident and skilled swimmers. Whether children are swimming recreationally or preparing for competition, SwimWright is dedicated to fostering their growth and potential. Thank you for being part of the SwimWright community!
