John, the organiser, shares a heartfelt message with the community:
Since its founding in 1974, Susan Handy Dance in Windsor has been setting the stage for both young and mature dancers to explore their passion. The school's main studio is nestled in Eton, but with classes spread throughout the Royal Borough, including Windsor, Datchet, Old Windsor, and Eton Wick, there's a place for everyone to dance.
John is pleased to remind everyone that Susan Handy’s influence extends beyond Eton, with branches in Woking at Du Feu Dance, Surrey, and in Ickenham at The Ickenham School of Dance in Middlesex. Susan herself, with her rich background from The Royal Ballet School and performances with legends like Sir Kenneth MacMillan and Dame Margot Fonteyn, is committed to sharing her vast knowledge and passion for dance.
The dedicated teaching team, handpicked by Susan, is a blend of highly qualified professionals all geared up to inspire and foster a love for dance. Whether aiming for a professional career or dancing for sheer joy, the teachers ensure a strong foundation and a love for the art form. With DBS checks and first-aiders on-site, the well-being of every student is top priority.
John also highlights that Susan Handy Dance extends its reach through various dance clubs in local schools, nurseries, and health clubs, offering students additional avenues to indulge in dance outside regular classes.
The school doesn’t miss a beat in celebrating its students' successes. From Ophelia Almeyda now leading the Southampton University Dance Company to Sophie Lane-Chow winning the Cecchetti Classical Ballet Award at Sadler’s Wells, and Indiana Banfield performing with Birmingham Royal Ballet's The Nutcracker, Susan Handy Dance is proud of its talented students.
Many students have clinched spots in prestigious programmes such as the Royal Ballet School Associates and Cecchetti Associates, proving the school's commitment to nurturing budding talent.
Pioneering new paths, Susan Handy Dance proudly offers the Rambert Grades syllabus, a collaboration between Rambert Dance Company and Rambert School. This progressive syllabus focuses on contemporary dance, fostering not just technique, but performance, creativity, and independent thinking.
Susan Handy Dance thrives on creating a welcoming and supportive environment where everyone can express themselves fully. No matter one's level or experience, the school has a class and performance opportunity for everyone with a love for dance.
Join John and the rest of the Susan Handy Dance community as they continue to dance, achieve, and celebrate together.
