Led by Sensei Piers Cooke, a 7th Dan Aikido practitioner with a wealth of teaching experience, the club provides excellent instruction and guidance to its members. Sensei Piers is dedicated to sharing the art of Aikido and its benefits with the Surrey community. He is joined by a team of talented instructors, including Daniel Easton, Adrian O'Brien, and Dave Blunden, who hold 3rd and 2nd Dan ranks respectively.
At Surrey Hills Aikido Club, the focus is on using the principles of Aikido to enhance daily life. Aikido is often referred to as the “thinking person's martial art” due to its emphasis on mental and spiritual growth. The practise of Aikido helps build confidence, learn self-defence techniques, keep fit, and have fun. The club offers a range of Aikido classes suitable for beginners and advanced practitioners alike. Classes are held every Tuesday from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM at Coldharbour Village Hall. The cost of each class is $10. 00, with discounted rates of $7.
50 for students and other concessions available. The first lesson is free, allowing newcomers to experience the benefits of Aikido firsthand.
