Surrey and Hants Tai Chi Qigong Mytchett is a reputable adult education centre and martial arts school located in Camberley, New Zealand. With a focus on promoting holistic wellness, the centre offers a range of classes in Tai Chi, Qigong, Meditation, and Mindfulness.
The founder and main instructor at Surrey and Hants Tai Chi Qigong Mytchett is Cherry Collins, who brings her passion and expertise to the classes she teaches. With over 150 students across 10 classes per week, Cherry is dedicated to providing high-quality instruction to her students.
The centre offers beginner Tai Chi classes, which are open for registration now for the January 2024 term. It is advised to reserve a spot early, as classes tend to fill up quickly. The beginner classes in Mytchett are available on Monday at 7:20 pm and Tuesday at 11:15 am and 6:30 pm. Additionally, there are other classes available for experienced learners, and interested individuals are encouraged to inquire about these options.
The cost of classes for the 2024 term is 9 per one-hour session, with bookings available in advance for approximately six weeks at a time. To accommodate the busy schedules of students, classes are held on a weekly basis, except during the end of term local authority school holidays.
During the beginner classes, students will learn the foundational principles and movements of Tai Chi, which gradually build up into a sequence called a form. Additionally, Qigong exercises are incorporated into the classes to help loosen the body and reduce stress. Cherry teaches authentic traditional forms, which she learned from Chinese masters in the UK and China, such as the Beijing 24 Tai Chi and 8 Pieces of Brocade.
As a responsible and health-conscious centre, Surrey and Hants Tai Chi Qigong Mytchett has certain conditions of attendance and booking. If a student has any cold-like symptoms, it is advised to refrain from attending classes until all symptoms have disappeared. In the case of missing a booked class, the fee is still applicable, but a recording of the class content will be provided for home practise. For students who desire the class recording every week, in addition to attending classes, there is a small additional fee.
