Are you the owner of Surf Life Saving New Zealand?

The generous support of our community and sponsors.
Established in 1910, Surf Life Saving New Zealand has a rich history of saving lives and promoting beach safety. Our dedicated team of 4,500 volunteer surf lifeguards patrol over 90 beaches across the country, from Northland to Southland. Their tireless efforts and vigilant presence have resulted in an average of 1,000 people being saved from life-threatening situations each year. With the red and yellow flags serving as a symbol of safety, our surf lifeguards ensure that beachgoers can enjoy their day at the beach with peace of mind.
But our work extends beyond patrolling the beaches. Surf Life Saving New Zealand also provides emergency search and rescue services, conducting searches and rescues in Aotearoa's coastal areas. We conduct coastal safety assessments, identifying potential hazards and working towards creating safer beach environments for everyone. Additionally, we are committed to public education and offer beach safety programmes to schools, community groups, and the public.
Through these initiatives, we aim to equip people with the knowledge and skills to stay safe in and around the water.
Training and support are integral aspects of Surf Life Saving New Zealand. We invest in the training of our volunteers, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively carry out their duties. Our aim is to empower our volunteers to be confident and competent in their roles, enabling them to save more lives. We provide ongoing support and resources to our volunteers throughout the year, ensuring they stay up-to-date with the latest techniques and best practises.
As an organisation, we are committed to reducing the number of drownings in New Zealand. The statistics from the past season highlight our success in achieving this goal. With over 225,000 patrol hours conducted, and no drownings recorded between the red and yellow flags, we have saved 1,499 lives and taken 30,954 preventative actions. We have also provided first aid treatments to 1,777 individuals and assisted 1,524 people to safety.
Donations are crucial to the continuation of our lifesaving efforts. Surf Life Saving New Zealand is a registered charity, and we rely on the support of our community and sponsors to fund our operations. By donating to our organisation, you can help us save more lives and promote beach and coastal safety. Consider joining our cause and making a difference today.
