Welcome to Sunshine Coast Bridge Club, located in Maroochydore, on the picturesque Sunshine Coast of Queensland, Australia. As one of the top bridge clubs in the region, we provide a warm and welcoming environment for bridge players of all skill levels.
At Sunshine Coast Bridge Club, we offer a range of sessions and events throughout the year to cater to the diverse needs and interests of our members. From regular afternoon sessions to special interclub pairs and graded teams events, there is always something happening to challenge and entertain bridge enthusiasts.
We understand the importance of staying connected in the digital age, and that's why we have developed comprehensive help documents for using MyABF, our online bridge platform. These documents are user-friendly and designed to assist members in setting up and logging into their MyABF accounts, as well as making payments to MyABF.
The safety and security of our members is a top priority at Sunshine Coast Bridge Club. Thanks to a generous grant from the Sunshine Coast Council, we have recently installed new security screens on our front door and kitchen windows, enhancing the overall security of our premises.
To better serve our members, we have also updated our club's email address to info@sunshinecoastbridge. Com. au. This change is part of an IT re-structure aimed at improving communication and streamlining club operations.
We take pride in celebrating and showcasing the achievements of our members. Our club member profiles provide a glimpse into the lives and accomplishments of our diverse and talented bridge players. From Arch Morrison to John Kenny, these profiles bring our vibrant community to life.
Our annual President's Trophy event is a highlight on our calendar. With 22 pairs competing, the 2023 edition was a resounding success. Congratulations to Alison Dawson and Ken Dawson, who emerged as the winners, and to Bev and John Stacey, who secured second place. We also recognise Iris Jeffries and Yvonne Hawthorne as the handicap winners.
A special thank you to club president Warren Holmes for his leadership and dedication.
We are proud to have recently celebrated Steve Murray's 80th birthday. As a longstanding member and director of our morning sessions and championships, Steve has made invaluable contributions to our club. His birthday was marked with a cake presented by the club in honour of his milestone.
As a trusted venue for bridge events, we were honoured to host the Queensland Senior Pairs tournament. With a strong field of 22 pairs from across southeast Queensland, the event showcased the talent and competitive spirit of our region's senior bridge players. Congratulations to overall winners David Christian and Geoff Olsen, as well as the runners-up Di Rogers and Susie Warren. The Restricted Pairs event was also a success, with Robert King and Keith Cohen taking home the title, and Carmel Dwan and Tricia Merefield securing the runners-up position.
We are pleased to announce that Sunshine Coast Regional Council has introduced a new permit system for organisations occupying their land, including our clubhouse. This change comes with the added benefit of increased maintenance responsibilities from the council, ensuring that our facilities remain in top condition. We are grateful to have reached an agreement, and our president Warren and treasurer Robert were delighted to sign the new permit document alongside Ella, representing the council.
Sunshine Coast Bridge Club is more than just a bridge club; it is a community of passionate individuals who share a love for the game. We welcome new members with open arms and invite you to join us on this exciting journey of skill, camaraderie, and lifelong friendships.
