About

“Stillpoint Yoga & Therapy” is a yoga studio located in Leicester, offering a range of yoga classes, craniosacral therapy, and specialist therapeutic yoga for children with special needs. Kay Hewitt, the founder of the studio, is a highly experienced and qualified yoga teacher, craniosacral therapist, and specialist therapeutic yoga teacher.

With over 30 years of experience in supporting, guiding, and healing, Kay brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her practise. She holds a background in Psychology & Biology and studied Human & Environmental Science at Leicester University before pursuing a career in children & young people services. Kay's journey into yoga and craniosacral therapy began after she suffered an injury in a car accident, which led to years of pain and discomfort. Seeking relief and healing, she committed to a regular yoga practise and craniosacral therapy, and the rewards have been transformative.

Kay's passion lies in the therapeutic use of yoga, particularly for children, young people, and adults with special needs and disabilities. She has initiated yoga programmes in several special schools in the city, making yoga accessible to those who may not feel comfortable attending mainstream classes. Kay has worked with individuals and groups facing physical disabilities, mental health challenges, post-natal depression, addiction recovery, cancer recovery, and dementia care settings. She is dedicated to making yoga accessible to all, regardless of their circumstances.

Kay's yoga teaching and craniosacral therapy practise are informed by her ongoing journey as a perpetual student of yoga and of life. She has a regular meditation practise and regularly attends postgraduate workshops in yoga and craniosacral therapy. She also has a keen interest in Somatic Movement and Feldenkrais, drawing from her years of experience in dancing 5 rhythms. This diverse range of practises helps Kay deepen her understanding and informs her compassionate and holistic approach to teaching and therapy.

Outside of her yoga and therapy practise, Kay is a mother and grandmother. She enjoys dancing, reading, sea kayaking, crafting, swimming outdoors, and spending time in wild places. Kay is committed to working professionally, holistically, and compassionately, helping individuals feel empowered in their own wellbeing and healing journey. She is also happy to work alongside NHS or other health and wellbeing practitioners to provide comprehensive support and aid in the journey back to health or finding ease living with chronic health conditions.

Kay's extensive educational and training highlights include an Advanced Diploma in Behavioural Psychology and Modern Biology from Leicester University, a BSc in Human and Environmental Science from Leicester University, and various certifications in Yoga, Craniosacral Therapy, Aromatherapy Massage, and Personal Advisor Diploma. She has also undergone shamanic training with Chris Luttichau of Northern Drum and holds a Diploma in Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy from Resonance Trainings.

At Stillpoint Yoga & Therapy, Kay is dedicated to providing a nurturing and supportive environment for individuals to explore and cultivate awareness and ease in their bodies, minds, and spirits. Whether you are seeking physical healing, emotional support, or spiritual growth, Kay's expertise and compassionate approach make Stillpoint Yoga & Therapy a haven for holistic wellbeing in Leicester.
