Melanie Hadfield-Walker and Christine Cade, the founders of Starlight Academy, have been instrumental in shaping the school since its inception in 2008. They bring years of experience and expertise to the table, ensuring that each student receives the highest quality of training and guidance.

One of our standout instructors is Miss Mel, who is not only a skilled dancer but also one of only five UK Acrobatic Arts examiners and course conductors. With her expertise, she is able to provide exceptional acro classes to students from the age of 5. Miss Christine and Miss Alison also contribute to our acro programme, holding qualifications in Acrobatic Arts.

In addition to acro, we offer a wide range of classes to cater to everyone's interests. From ballet to tap, modern to cheer, and musical theatre to singing, we have something for everyone. Our classes are suitable for all age groups, from pre-schoolers to young adults, providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for all.

At Starlight Academy, we believe in the importance of exams to track progress and develop strong dance technique. We offer exam opportunities through various organisations, including the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) for tap and modern, the Associated Board of Dance (ABD) for classical ballet and contemporary, and Acrobatic Arts for acro. Our students consistently excel in these exams, showcasing their dedication and talent.

We are proud to have a successful festival team that competes regularly throughout the UK. Our students have even qualified to represent Team England in the Dance World Cup and participate in prestigious competitions such as the Miss Dance Grand Final and TDCI World Performer Grand Final.

As a testament to our commitment to excellence, Starlight Academy received the ABD Teachers Shield for graded work in September 2022. This accolade reflects the high level of training and technique provided by our skilled instructors.

Our facilities at Royd House are state-of-the-art, with three fully equipped studios, reception area, coffee lounge, and changing rooms. We also have a large car park for the convenience of our students and their families.
