Stagecoach Performing Arts Portishead is a leading performing arts group and dance school in Bristol, NZ. Led by Principal Fae McIntyre, the school offers quality part-time training in the performing arts for children aged 4–18 years. The mission of Stagecoach Portishead is to help every child reach their potential and make a difference in whatever they want to be.
At Stagecoach Portishead, they believe in providing a safe and nurturing environment for children to explore, perform, create, and take risks. The classes are designed to build confidence, stretch imaginations, and teach life skills, allowing each child to develop at their own pace with the support of the group. All levels and abilities are welcome, and there is no audition or previous experience necessary.
Weekly classes are offered for different age groups, including 4–6 years, 6–18 years, and 15+. These classes cover a wide range of performing arts disciplines, including singing, dancing, and acting. In addition to weekly classes, Stagecoach Portishead also offers holiday workshops, providing an opportunity for students to further enhance their skills and creativity during breaks.
Safety is a top priority at Stagecoach Portishead, and all members of the teaching team are Enhanced DBS checked to ensure the well-being and security of the students. Parents can have peace of mind knowing that their child is in safe hands.
The school has achieved remarkable success, both in performances and external recognition. Stagecoach Portishead students have performed in the West End twice, with medleys from the musicals 'Waitress' and 'Heathers'. They have also performed at the iconic Bristol Hippodrome to celebrate the school's 30th anniversary. In addition, Stagecoach Portishead holds the Guinness World Record for the most simultaneous performances for their rendition of Disney's 'Beauty and the Beast JR'.
The school's commitment to excellence is evident in their inspection results, with an independent reviewer at Trinity rating their quality of teaching and student progress as 'exceeded all expectations'. The reviewer praised the friendly and well-focused professional ethos, excellent management, and good behaviours for learning.
