Over the past ten years, the club has had the privilege of teaching thousands of individuals through its beginner courses, while also organising numerous club shoots and competitions for both long-term, short-term, and visiting shooters.
Although the decision to close the club was difficult, Southsea Archery Club remains committed to supporting its dedicated shooters. The club is more than willing to provide advice to those looking to continue their archery journey in the future. It recognises the importance of shooting facilities and understands the impact that the closure may have on its members.
To commemorate the club's legacy, Southsea Archery Club has organised several final events. The Plonker Round, held on Saturday, April 29th at Priory School, promises a fun and unconventional shooting experience. In this specially created round, the outer rings hold the highest value, and special wooden spoon trophies will be awarded to those who exhibit the qualities of a “plonker. ” Advanced booking is required to secure a spot for this unique event.
Additionally, the club has organised the Portsmouth Round, a competitive competition where medals will be awarded to the top-performing archers. This event, held on Saturday, April 22nd at Priory School, aims to combine friendly competition with an enjoyable experience for participants of all ages and skill levels.
Southsea Archery Club boasts a history of hosting various competitions throughout the year. Recent results of these competitions, including the Summer Championships, Knockout Cup, Winter Championships, Spring Championships, Autumn Championships, and the Plonker Competition, can be found on the club's website.
