David, the organiser at Slaithwaite Cricket & Bowling Club, wanted to share a few updates with you.
The 3rd XI team, combining seasoned adults with eager young talent, competes in the Sunday Championship division of the Huddersfield League. David is proud that this team provides a platform for players of all ages to hone their skills in a friendly yet competitive environment. Training happens every Tuesday and Thursday at the club's newly built nets, with matches held on Sundays - a fantastic opportunity for everyone to showcase their abilities.
For the juniors, David and the team are deeply committed to nurturing the next generation of cricketers. With training sessions on weekday evenings and matches on weekends, youngsters from under 9s to under 17s have plenty of opportunities to develop their game. The coaches focus on creating a supportive atmosphere, ensuring every child has the chance to improve and enjoy the sport they love.
Bowling enthusiasts aren't left behind either. The club has eight teams competing in various leagues, welcoming all skill levels. Regular coaching and training sessions are on offer, and David invites everyone, whether seasoned players or beginners, to join in and enjoy the sport.
The facilities at the club have recently been upgraded, including new nets and well-maintained cricket pitches and bowling greens. The clubhouse is also available for private events, providing a spacious venue for any gathering. David and a dedicated group of volunteers have worked hard to create a family-friendly environment that’s inclusive and welcoming to all.
