Restorative Yoga uses props such as bolsters and blankets to support the body in gentle, therapeutic poses that promote healing and rejuvenation.
The studio is located at 3005 Persimmon Place in Nanaimo, British Columbia. Students are encouraged to enter through the front door 5–15 minutes before class starts, with no need to ring the bell. Julie Horwood, RN, BN, Certified Yoga Therapist, is the founder of Six Persimmons Yoga and Wellness Studio. With over 30 years of experience in the health care field, Julie brings a unique perspective to her yoga teaching practice. Her goal is to offer a personalized, therapeutic approach to yoga for those who may not feel comfortable in larger studio settings.
Julie is a Registered Nurse with a Bachelor's degree from the University of Calgary, as well as a Certified Yoga Therapist with the International Association of Yoga Therapists. She has received training in Moksha Yoga (500 hour), as well as additional certifications in Vinyasa, Yin, Trauma-sensitive Yoga, and mindfulness. Julie's teaching style focuses on supporting students with various conditions, injuries, or illnesses to help them find relief, healing, and peace through their practice.
Six Persimmons Yoga and Wellness Studio is also home to the “Rest Revolution,” offering classes, workshops, and retreats that focus on relaxation and rejuvenation.
