Archers from nearby clubs recently gathered for a successful event, showcasing their talent and enjoying some friendly competition.
Silver Spoon Bowmen, based in Spalding, Lincolnshire, has been a staple in the local archery scene since its establishment in 1975 under the British Sugar Sports & Social Club. The club is affiliated with Archery GB, the East Midlands Archery Society, and the Lincolnshire County Archery Society.
In the winter months, from October to March, archers shoot indoors at Surfleet Village Hall on Tuesday evenings from 7:00pm to 10:00pm and on Friday evenings from 7:15pm to 10:15pm. During the summer, from April to September, outdoor sessions are held at Red House Farm in Donington, Spalding on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
Membership at Silver Spoon Bowmen is open both to seasoned archers and beginners. Newcomers can join a Beginners Course that provides all the instruction and guidance needed to start archery. Details on these courses are available on their Getting Started page. Membership fees are as follows: GNAS fees are £59.00 for seniors and £18.00 for juniors, club fees are £100.00 for seniors and £50.00 for juniors, taster sessions cost £20.00, and Beginners Courses are £90.00.
Sue Newton, the Chair, leads the club along with Club & Membership Secretary Lynn Fisher, Vice Chairman Mandie Inglis, Tournament Officer Emily Must, Records Officer Barry Molsom, and Treasurer Mandie Inglis. Sue Newton also serves as the Child Protection Officer.
