Nick wanted to share a bit about what makes Silverdale Pony Club special. Established in 1969, this club has always been about family and fun. They started behind the Silverdale Rugby Club but moved to the Holdaway family farm on Green Road in 1998 because of the motorway extension.

Silverdale Pony Club runs its season during daylight savings. Members can join weekly mounted rallies on Tuesday nights and use the grounds throughout the week and weekends until winter closure.

They offer various levels of NZ Pony Club Association Certificates, from Lead Rein to A Certificates, and even have an Adult Ride option for those keen to ride, with or without their kids.

Experienced coaches teach lessons for all levels, provide horse management tips, and use visual aids for learning. There's also a cross-country course and farm rides available for members.

For those interested in adult riding, the club has four big paddocks and welcomes enquiries via phone or email. One of the best bits is their ever-changing cross-country course, perfect for riders of all ages.

To join the club, adults or parents need to register first, then add their family members. Horsemasters should register accordingly, and there's a specific membership for parents with riding kids. Fees for 2023-24 are $285 per rider under 25, $150 for riders without ponies, and $285 for adult ride without instruction. Ground access-only members can contact the club for more details.

Silverdale Pony Club also hosts events like Ribbon Day and Grassroots Showjumping. They even have horses for those without their own pony.
