Welcome to Shukokai Karate Clyde, a Karate club located in Clyde North. Under the guidance of Head Instructor Sensei Darryl Thornton, we are proud to be a part of the Shukokai Karate Dojos. Our club is family-oriented, providing specially tailored classes for children aged 4 years and older, as well as adults.
At Shukokai Karate Clyde, we offer the perfect balance of tradition and modern outlook. Our instructors are fully qualified and internationally recognised, having received training from Japanese Masters. They will work closely with you to help you achieve your goals, whether it's building confidence and discipline in your children or improving your own fitness and strength.
We are an all-inclusive club, welcoming everyone who is interested in trying something new or looking to enhance their martial arts skills. Shukokai Karate Clyde is affiliated with Karate Victoria, Australian Karate Federation, Shukokai World Union, and the World Karate Federation.
You can find us at our brand new dojo located at Unit 2, 4 Keira St, Clyde North. Our spacious training area spans 180 sqm, fully matted for safety and comfort. Parents are welcome to watch their children's classes from our designated sitting area. Additionally, we have an upstairs area with another 60 sqm of matted training space for smaller groups and private sessions.
We offer a range of programmes to cater to different age groups. The Mighty Samurai programme is designed specifically for children aged 4 to 6 years old. This programme focuses on early skill-based training and prepares young children for success in karate, school, and life. It fosters growth and development in a positive and fun atmosphere through games and activities.
For children aged 7 and older, we have our Junior Programme. This programme combines karate skills with self-defence and personal development. We also teach techniques to cope with bullying, empowering students to handle difficult situations both mentally and physically. The Junior Programme encourages confidence building, fitness, health, friendship, and goal setting.
Blue belt holders also have the opportunity to join our junior leadership team, where they can further enhance their teamwork and coaching skills.
Our class schedule is flexible to accommodate various age groups and skill levels. We offer classes for Mighty Samurai (ages 4-6), Juniors (beginner/white belts & red belts), Juniors (yellow & orange belts), Juniors (green belts and above), teens, and adults. Classes are held multiple times per week, allowing participants to find a schedule that suits them best.
