SHINE special yoga

SHINE Special Yoga, located in Belfast, Northern Ireland, is a yoga studio dedicated to providing special yoga therapy for individuals with various additional needs. The studio understands the importance of meeting each individual where they are at, helping them to shine and reach their full potential.

Special yoga is tailored to those with conditions such as autism, ADHD, Cerebral Palsy, Down's Syndrome, learning disabilities/difficulties, PMLD, complex needs, and other physical challenges. The sessions incorporate breathing practises, physical postures, deep pressure massage, sound therapy, mindfulness, and relaxation techniques.

The benefits of special yoga are numerous. It can help balance the body and mind, increase body and spatial awareness, develop motor skills, encourage self-initiation and self-regulation, improve concentration, efficiency of the lungs and cardiovascular system, posture, flexibility, strength, muscle tone and also reduce anxiety, depression, and improve the quality of sleep.

The studio is run by Tory Campbell, who has a deep passion for yoga and its therapeutic power. Tory started practising yoga in 1997 and has since trained extensively, completing her 200hr hatha yoga teacher training with the Yoga Therapy and Training Centre in Dublin and specialised training with Special Yoga in London. She is also a Level 1 teacher for Breath-Body-Mind and has completed Teen Yoga Teacher Training with the Teen Yoga Foundation.

SHINE Special Yoga offers private group sessions that are chair or mat-based and cater to the abilities and age of the group. These sessions can be held at the client's venue or at a venue sourced by the studio. Remote sessions via Zoom are also available. It's important to note that due to Covid-19, in-person sessions will follow social distancing measures and appropriate PPE will be used.

Group participants will need to provide their own equipment.
